Beach FC is pleased to announce the addition of Dave Brun as the Boys Director of Coaching for the Travel Program effective June 1. Dave has some of the most extensive coaching experience in the area, having coached at the youth level, high school level, and college level. He began coaching 30 years ago while he was still a player at Virginia Wesleyan College. Dave currently coaches the u14 Boys Red team and the u11 Boys Red team and the Cape Henry Collegiate School Boys Varsity.
Upon graduation from Virginia Wesleyan Dave also spent time in New Mexico – working as a head coach for the New Mexico Boys ODP program as well as their Young Olympians program. While there, he mentored current US Men’s National Team player Edgar Castillo, who currently plays professionally in Mexico. Dave ultimately ended up back in his hometown of Virginia Beach working for Beach FC. Over the past decade, Dave has coached in virtually every age group on the boys side. He has won multiple VYSA State Cups and led teams to the Region I finals.
Director of Soccer Operations Mark Waite said this about Dave’s hiring: “Dave has been an integral part of Beach FC in my time at the club. His knowledge of the game is second to none and his ability to work and connect with all ages and ability levels is what separates him from most coaches. I am thrilled to be working with him in this expanded capacity.”
Dave currently holds his USSF National D license and his National Youth License. "I have worked with Dave for over a decade and he exemplifies everything we stand for at Beach FC – hard work, commitment, and character to name a few. When you look at the players that Dave has coached and mentored and how fondly they look back on their time playing under Coach Brun, it is an awe inspiring list. Dave always goes the extra mile for his players and teams, whether it be an extra session or spending time helping a player apply to colleges. We look forward to giving even more of our players and teams access to his knowledge and passion” said Beach FC Executive Director Steve Danbusky.
