Subj:  Games Cancelled

Families of the JRA,

Virginia Wesleyan has closed their fields tomorrow for our games. We tried to get field space at the complex, Bishop Sullivan as well as other venues but the grass fields all around our area are unplayable. Therefore our games tomorrow are cancelled. We have rescheduled pictures for Sunday, April 27th (games moved from the 26th to the 27th because VB has school) and I'm putting together a make up schedule to send out this week detailing when we plan on making up the sessions we have missed due to weather. As always, let me know if you have any questions.

Subj:  Training and Sunday Games

Families of the Jr. Academy,

U7-U8s should be all set to go at the HRSC complex tonight from 6-7:15. Look forward to seeing everyone out there tonight.

A reminder our games are on Sunday this weekend with the same start times. U6s start at 10:00 and U7-U8s start at 11:00. Also, we will be having professional pictures taken this Sunday starting one hour before your scheduled kickoff time if you are interested. I will have prepay envelopes with me tonight at training and anyone who doesn't get one can easily pay Sunday before your game.

All players should be in their yellow jerseys.

The forcast is calling for thunderstorms Saturday but hopefully Virginia Wesleyan will leave us enough dry spots for our games! Let me know if you have any questions.

Subj:  Jr. Academy Week 5

Families of the Jr. Academy,

Hope everyone enjoyed the great weekend of games! The players did an excellent job looking to connect passes and try new moves. The weather was great I appreciate all the parents doing a fabulous job cheering and staying positive with all the players.

A reminder this week our games are going to be moved to Sunday. Same times.

Also, we are planning on doing individual pictures this Sunday. I handed out prepay envelopes this weekend and there will be more on hand Sunday. If your interested in the pictures please come out to your games one hour before kickoff. So U6s 9:00 and U7-U8s 10:00. They are optional but this is a great opportunity to get professional pictures taken.

I hope the weather cooperates with us this week so we can be back at the complex. Let me know if you have any questions.

Subj:  Jr. Academy Week 4

Families of the Jr. Academy,

I know everyone was excited to get a full week of training in last week. I'm hoping for another great week! This week I challenged our players to work on the juggle your age challenge. This is a way for our players to get touches on the ball after training and on off nights. Also, please take a look at www.isoccer.org. This is best described as the youtube for soccer videos. The site has numerous free soccer exercise that players can view, and then mimic the activity. Challenge your son or daughter to do the same thing they see in the video. There is a subscription available as well for more videos, but with our 5-8 year olds, there are plenty of free options. Please take a look at them and give your player a chance to see the videos.

Keep your eye on the weather again this week. Lots of rain is expected over the next couple days. This week we are on the grass fields at our normal training times. This Saturday we will be in our black jerseys as Virginia Wesleyan University. Also, U7-U8 parents please be around the pvillion around 6:45 during training for our coaches talk. I use this time to answer any questions and describe our stations and sessions for the week.

On the two Saturdays days Virginia Beach has make up school, we will move our games to Sundays those weekends. Same times at Virginia Welseyan.

Look forward to seeing you this week!

Subj:  Jr. Academy Week 3

Families of the Jr. Academy,

Hope everyone enjoyed the warmer weather for our games this weekend. We were very fortunate that the club gave us access to the turf fields because there was no chance we could have had our games at Wesleyan. The U6s did a great job with their spacing and connecting passes. The work rate was excellent and the smiles were big! Our U7-U8 boys and girls did a wonderful job playing together and it was great to see the level of competition and energy on each field. Continue to touch the ball every chance you get and work on your dribbling skills.

We are looking into make up days for our U7-U8s. I will let you know when we plan on having training for the two sessions we have missed.

I look forward to seeing everyone this week! We are no longer on the turf fields. We will use the grass fields at the front of the complex. Be sure to check your email before coming to training in case we have to cancel or move the times around due to weather.

As always let me know if you have any questions.

Families of the Jr. Academy,

Training tonight for U7-U8s has been canceled. The wind started to blow the cones away and with the continued heavy rain, its best that we cancel. We will see everyone in the morning for our games at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex. U6s start at 9:30. U7-U8s start at 10:30 on the turf field #8. Thanks!

3/7/2014

Families of the Jr. Academy,

Despite all the rain, we are still planning on training tonight for our U7-U8 age group. I'll let you know via email if anything changes.

Virginia Wesleyans’ grass fields are under water and they have closed the fields. Fortunate for us the club was able to reserve turf time at the HRSC for us for our games. Our games tomorrow have been moved from Virginia Wesleyan to the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex Turf Fields. We will be on field 8, the furthest turf field from the parking lot. The U6s will start their games at 9:30-10:15. U7-U8s will have their games from 10:30-11:30. Everyone should be in their black jerseys. Please help and spread the word to other families so we can ensure everyone gets the message.

Let me know if you have any questions.

3/4/2014

Families of the Jr. Academy,

What a fantastic start to the spring season! The Game Day was a tremendous success and I appreciate all the parents and players braving the cold, again, to create a positive and encouraging playing atmosphere. As I walked around, there is no doubt we have work to do, but the passion and effort from all our players is very evident. I strongly encourage our players to try and get some touches on the ball on our off training nights. The more touches they get on the ball, the more confident they will be with the ball at out feet. Doing some juggling, dribbling, passing, or playing games at home with the soccer ball will go a long way in the overall development of our Academy players.

Our Move of the Week this week is the 'Mathews' for our U7-U8 players so be sure to ask your son or daughter of to preform the move after training! Also, U7-U8 players will be getting their MLS training groups this week. Be sure to ask the players what their training group name is after training so they will remember it for future sessions.

We are set to be on the turf at the HRSC again this Wed. and Fri. night for training. Look forward to seeing everyone there! Continue to dress warm!

Let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
