What is the Super Y-League?Super Y League

The Super Y-League is a national system designed for talented youth players destined for college, professional or international careers. The league is a perfect compliment to the Hampton Roads Piranhas vision of providing superior training and highly competitive games for elite players. Which Clubs compete in Super Y-League?

Over 100 clubs throughout North America compete annually for a National Championship. The Hampton Roads Piranhas will play in the South Atlantic Division which consists of the following teams: NOVA Majestic and Royals, CASL Railhawks, Triangle FC, Charlotte Soccer Club, FC Fredericksburg, Greensboro, Atlanta Silverbacks, Atlanta Fire, Carolina Dynamo, Richmond Kickers and Richmond Strikers.

When does the Super Y-League season run?

The season consists of approximately 10-14 games. The majority of the games are played during the summer (July and August). The National Finals are held every November in Tampa, Florida.

What are the age brackets for the Super Y-League?

The Super Y-League uses the same USYSA age brackets (August 1st to July 31st). The age bracket you participate in is the same age bracket in which you would play. For example, if you are currently play U13 you should try out for the U13 Super-Y team. If you are a U14 you should try out for the U15 Super-Y team. Competition for Super Y-League is only between ages U13 to U18.

We will field teams in the following age groups:

Boys U13, U15, and U17 only; Girls U13, U15 and U17 only

Where will the teams practice and play home games?

Training will take place at Shipps Corner and usually occurs 2 times per week depending upon game schedules. League games will be played at either Shipps Corner or Hampton Roads Soccer Complex (HRSC).

How many players will be selected for each Super Y-League team?

Depending upon the quality of each tryout group between 22-16 players will be selected. A maximum of 18 players will be selected for the game day roster.

What uniforms will the Super Y-League teams use?

The Hampton Roads Piranhas uniform supplier is Umbro. The players will receive 2 jerseys, 1 short, training shirt and 2 pairs of socks (included in player fee).

How will transportation to away games be coordinated?

Transportation to away games will be the responsibility of the parent. If we must travel to Atlanta, bus transportation may be secured, but the cost of the bus must be covered by the individuals riding the bus. Parents and teams will be responsible for fees associated with bus rentals.

How will lodging for over-night trips be coordinated?

Players will be responsible for lodging and cost of meals on all over-night trips. Every effort will be made to keep boys and girls teams in separate hotels. The SYL director will secure hotels for the away matches; however, the team manager will organize rooming lists and payment for hotels. All deposits of hotel rooms for players are the responsibility of the parent.

How much is the Super Y-League fee?

The fee is $495.00, which includes USL league fee of $1000.00 per team, performance bond, Umbro uniform kit, coaches and training fees, referee and assignors fees, Super-Y administrator, player registration and insurance, field rental, athletic trainers, administrative and operational expenses.

Non-refundable deposit of $175.00 is due upon signing, February 22, 2008. 2 additional payments of $160 each are due Apr 1 and May 12. All fees must be paid prior to start of league play.

When will selections be posted?

Selections will be posted on line by age group within 5 days after tryout completion. All accepted candidates will receive an acceptance email with further detailed instructions. Once selected to a team, you will be asked to accept your position on line and provide a non-refundable deposit of $175.00 by February 22, 2008. The remaining fee of $320.00 is due in 2 installments of $160.00 (April 1 and May 1).
